Task: Help St. Francis Xavier clean and revitalize the shelter that it operates. Tasks include sweeping floors, cleaning the kitchen/bathroom and changing linens. The shelter provide beds to a dozen homeless men and is open 7 nights a week, year-round.

Background: The Xavier Mission is the community outreach arm of the St. Francis Xavier Church and is located in Chelsea. St. Francis Mission has a long history of service to those in need and seeks to welcome , serve and empower those in our New York City community who are in need of human and material support. The Xavier Mission meets pressing needs by providing food, clothing, shelter and life-skills training, and is guided by the Jesuit principle of advocating social justice. New York Cares volunteers help prepare and serve meals at The Welcome Table to an average of 725 guests each Sunday.
